Default Travelers, Shaving bowl or no shaving bowl.

Hi all, I am just wondering what you all use when you are on your travels?
Do you have a specific travel straight, shavette or safety razor and also my main question is what soap do you use when travelling? I don't have a huge wash bag and my shaving soap is a 150g tub, it is a little big and bulky just to take away for a week or two. Do you guys buy smaller tubs to take or do you have a little shaving bowl with a lid and just buy small replacement soaps or anything else weird and wonderful that I could consider?

    Thanks all

    Mark

To keep my shaving kit compact I travel with a DE, tuck of blades, small alum, a synthetic travel brush and a shave stick. I face lather so no need of a bowl. AS and Edt if you want. There is also a solid form of cologne if you like.

I too travel with a DE, remember you can't have those blades in carry on luggage when flying though. In the cases where you might need to carry on you can take cartridge razors. Personally I would rather pay for checking my luggage than shave with one of those

You could always try shaving cream, it is usually soft enough to put some in a smaller tub, or as Bob has suggested shave sticks are more compact. I do take a plastic bowl with a lid, it is just the right size for a puck of soap but then I have quite a big wash bag. or you could try something like this https://www.theinvisibleedge.co.uk/s...pack-of-4.html I haven't used them myself so I can't say anything about the quality.

I face lather also so don't use a bowl. I normally use a backup safety razor for traveling so I worry less about a lost or stolen straight, nor do I have to pack a strop. The software I use is a 50g shave soap stick and a 100 ml bottle of Trumper's skin food or a sample size bottle of aftershave.

I have read the lid for Proraso soap can be used for a shaving bowl. That might be a good way to get more use out of your soap container.

If I'm going for a weekend i just bring a brush and use whatever bar of soap there is at the hotel. Not ideal but it's fine for a few days (or i just don't shave that weekend)

If I'm going for longer than that I bring one of (or half of one) these: https://www.amazon.com/Van-Hagen-Del...1920935&sr=8-5

and use it with one of their mugs. I just leave it there when i go.

I have a set of 3 vintage straights for travel. As for soap I have several with lids that seal. You can lather right in the container. Also have a brush and travel Strop.

Plastic bowl, SE Mongoose, synthetic brush. SR shaving on the road became too labor intensive, eventually.

If you really must have a shaving bowl for travel, I'd look at a collapsible rubber dog bowl. Similar to this: PetmateŽ Collapsible Travel Dog Bowl | dog Portable Food Bowls | PetSmart . Easy to store and non metallic.
