Thanked: 15French Razor
I posted in another thread but I'm looking for info on a Pigeard Nogent Le- Rotrou*straight. I don't see much on my Bing search except that Nogent Le- Rotrou*is the location.

Thanked: 4249Nogent Le Rotrou is the location in France, the makers is Auguste Pigeard a master cutler who founded the firm in 1863. Auguste was making cutlery and started using his tools and knowledge to make eye glasses, he passed away in 1900, his son Georges took over the business, a master culter himself trained in Thiers, and studied opticals in Paris. The cutlery part of the business was slowing down but the optical part was very successful still in business after 6 generations of Pigeard, still in Nogent Le Rotrou.

Thanked: 15Thanks. Bing mentioned the optics company. Good to know it's still in business. Are they still doing cutlery or razors? I'll have a look at there website.

Thanked: 4826That is a nice looking set of scales, and the razor looks to have a nicely tooled spine. A looker for sure.

Just got this Nogent Extra No 15 in the mail from France yesterday.
My father was an engineer. He used to tell me that sharpening a straight razor is like trying to build a ladder to the moon out of a roll of aluminum foil.
