Thread: W.H. Morley & Sons Clover BrandCustom?

Got an unusual (well I think so anyway) W.H. Morley & Sons Clover Brand straight today and everything seems to be normal with the exception of the end caps. I search high and low in the net looking for an image of the same or similar razor without success. As you can see, the end caps say "SPECIAL" and have the letters F, W and E in what looks like a green background. I have no clue about this especially since I do not know a lot about straights (admitted DE guy here, oh well). All that being said, is this a special made by Morley & Sons? Perhaps a custom order for an individual or a company or organization or?

Any ideas or clues? Any help is totally appreciated

Well, actually found a few things, it appears to be a rescale job meant to deceive with a Morley blade and FW Engels scales I would bet. No biggie though, it came in a lot of "junk" razors I bought. Please correct me if I am wrong though

It's a franken razor. I have Wolstenholme in C-Mon scales. As long as they fit and you are not bothered by it, it is just fine. :-)

I've got a similar franken-razor with scales from an F.W. Engels on a Shumate blade. Unfortunately in my case the razor touches the wedge when closing and the blade may need to have quite a bit of steel removed to bring it up to shave ready.

This would be a "learning experience" purchase and that is exactly what the razor will be used for as I learn to restore. Thankfully my lesson was a relatively inexpensive one.
