Thanked: 133Have you guys had rust form on your bevel before
I think there is a small spec of rust on the bevel of my razor I noticed when stropping it. Took it to the 12k stone for a few strokes but didn't seem to come off. It is just a very small black spot on the bevel (I strop linen 10 times and leather 50 after each shave not sure when I got it). Should I just wait until I need to rehone the razor or should I try taking it to the 8k stone then the 4k maybe to try and get it out soon.

Thanked: 31I have a tiny spot on my DD Wonderedge bevel, which has been there as long as I have had it. However, this blade is actually my smoothest shaver, so I can't feel it at all. I suspect that my rigorous stropping (slurry paste strop, fabric strop, and plain leather) has evened it out, so the flaw in the edge is impossible to feel.

If you are sure it is rust it needs to come out. Rust is cancer to steel and it will spread. If there is no pitting a good metal cleaner will remove it though that close to the edge will probably mean a complete hone job since cleaners do a number to shaving edges.
