I also undersand that he has to ask that amount of money to make it worth his time, and I understand that the price is so high because of it.

But that does not mean that the blades themselves are worth that much.
Because Livi is a famous smith, people buy them and they get a quality razor.

Back to the wapienica example. Say someone has a 10 euro wapienica and it is completely rusted over. It takes me 12 hours to completely clean up the blade, clean up the scales and hone it. Lets say I ask 50 euros for all this work (just a number I pulled out of thin air).

The total price for that razor is then 60 euros. The blade has now cost 60 euro, but its inherent worth is still only 10euro.
But then it would be a "Bruno Wap" and after about 200 posts about what a great shaver it was people would be buying Waps, soaking them in salt water til they were good and rusty, then sending them to you to be restored!!!

    Hah.
    What do I say now.
    Erhm...

If the hardware store finally comes through on their promise to deliver my peening hammer next week, I'll be showing you something I did for one of our members here. If you like it you can always allow your favorite razor to rust and send it to me

I am not real smart at these things, but I believe you can get a good shaving razor for 40 or 50 dollars. With that said this is a WANT thing for you. In other words if you want a cost effective car maybe a Toyota or Ford, but if you WANT a mercedes of course we all wish you pick the very best item which satisfies your tastes. I believe they will all shave very well, and perhaps would be best left for show anyway.
