    Default Can't identify this razor

Hello I'm new here. Seems like a nice community. I recently bought a straight razor but I have no clue as to who made it and where it's from. It says "finest silver steel magnetic" on the original box and "acciaio martellato garantito 10 anni" on the blade yet it says BUR and made in Germany on the tang.

I will greatly appreciate any help given. Thank you!!

    Welcome to SRP!

Bur would be the company that made the razor in Germany. "acciaio martellato garantito 10 anni" is Italian and it means "Hammered steel guaranteed 10 years". With the Italian writing on it we can assume that it was mad in Germany to be sold in Italy.

That blade looks to be in pretty rough shape. Give it a good scrubbing with some oil and fine steel wool. Then hit it with some metal polish and see how it looks.

Thankyou so much for thje info

Ive been scrubbing it with oil and a toothbrush since i am scared steelwool will damage the engravings. My method is working but very slowly. What would you suggest? Thankyou for your time.

Razor steel is very hard so steel wool won't scratch it. It'll Take the active rust right off.
