there was a thread on this a couple days ago. The search button is helpful.

The short: made by dovo so generally decent stuff, but takes alot to get the first hone on them. 3 of the hone miesters did a very good review of them.

They make a nice letter opener. For what it's worth, I know one of the honemeisters here won't even work on one.

Spend your money on a honed, shave ready vintage blade from one of our members. You will be far ahead even if you pay twice the price.

    Just my two cents,

They did a good review, but I don't remember it being a positive review...

You know, I do not know why there's such a downer on these razors. Yes, the first hone can be a pig because the factory (and these are factory products, hence the price) puts a bevel on them that's about 45 degrees. Horrible but not the end of the world. Given also that the Paladin and Teuton are top grade Swedish carbon steel forged and ground in Solingen Germany (not Solingen China) and I start to smell the aroma of badge snobbery. OK, they're not a top grade Dovo or TI (and I've read plenty of gripes and whines about those too, despite the price!) but I do believe that they provide a good entry level razor for someone who, for whatever reason, doesn't want a vintage model. True, I do not approach honing one of these with any glee but it's nice when they do (eventually) pass the HH test (and they will if you're patient). I think the reason they are difficult to hone (apart from that bevel) is that the steel seems very hard indeed - maybe the Swedes like it that way?

I don't know for sure but I'd imagine there are some truly crappy cheesesteaks being sold in Philly right now...

Philly cheesesteaks are great eating. But there are probably some restaurants in Philadelphia that turn out some really bad ones...

Er - OK. I think this an American 'in' joke? Sorry, I'm a Brit - what Philadelphia got to do with anything (honestly I'm in the dark here).
