Thanked: 1Razor ID/ value help
I picked up my first straight razor over the weekend. The seller is known to and trusted by me.
I'm hoping someone here can assist me with semi accurate dating and perhaps value info.
The maker's mark is Vom Cleff New York. The part that makes the info harder for me to come by is the manufacture location. It's marked Made in Sweden. Everything I can find about Vom Cleff refers to Solingen blades. Beautiful wood grain scales I assume are Bakelite.
Any help is appreciated.

Thanked: 634Could be Engstrom or Anton Berg. Two good razors. As for value, we do not do that on this site. Check similar razors on eBay that have sold and you will get an idea.

Thanked: 1See, that's what I get for only buzzing the regs. Hoof in mouth on day one.
Fair enough on the value. I felt comfy with what I paid, so I guess that's the biggest part of that.
Danke

Thanked: 4249Some history on Vom Cleff here: http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...vom-cleff.html
Simply your razor was made in Sweden for Vom Cleff of New York importers of various cutlery.

If the manufacturer isn't mentioned anywhere on the blade it's nigh impossible to identify, as Eskilstuna razors are often quite similar (generally speaking of good quality).
As mentioned above, it could be an E.A. Berg, Joh. Engström, but it may very well be a Klas Törnblom or a Börlange Bengall as well. None of them rare, but then again there are very, very few rare Swedish razors.
That being said, I haven't seen that many export razors to the USA. This is pure conjecture, but Engström did seem to have some American connection, as I have seen one or two razors by a John Engstrom Jr. out of New York, so if I had to guess, I'd say Engström. But I won't [emoji14]
Either way, this is a clean specimen, and undoubtedly a most satisfactory shaver.
