    1- So what's been the long-term satisfaction?
2- Were there differences between the ones 'shave ready' by 'Master Shifu', and the 'regular' ones?

I'm asking because I want a razor to practice honing on, since I'll have a C12K soon.
So I don't want to spend much on something I may accidentally destroy. On the other hand, if I end up doing a decent job, I'd like to have a razor I can shave with

The threads mentioned plenty of bad grinds, and I'm not equipped nor willing to start a big fixing project. But if Master Shifu gives me a high likelihood of a good starting point, then that's a viable option
you can practice on a ZY, otherwise anything that applies to GDs applies to those as well. The one "improvement" that I have seen is the lack of stabilizer so no need to modify there.

Yep, same razor without the shoulder. I have two zy's. Bought to practice with. One was prety even and took a nice looking edge. Second one was terrible. I got it to take a bevel but it took a lot and the bevel is wide and thin and wide. Just opisite on other side. Its the luck of the draw. Id say find a vintage razor of two that is cheep to your pocket and use those. Butter odds i think.

Shifu is the name of a belt sander, don’t you name your tools?
