the price of hones doesn't need to be in your equation yet,, shave strop and then hone,, but it your money but a guy who seems to be looking to be on a budget stones are the worst investment around,,, I can get my razors honed for a few years for the price of a few hones,,, but do as you please, honing seems to be something some enjoy, but then again I did this to shave not work on them. my advise is either taken or not and it doesn't hurt me a bit, but I like to throw it out there cause most around here will enable you to spend more money that you need to. and to be honest after being here as long as I have the amount of guys who start this and then go all out soon quit the razor hobby and now havea bunch of money tied up in things they really didn't need so soon. if your here in a year then we,ll see. ive come full circle and have been selling my hones and have only the need of one, and not that often and I shave every day with a tough beard so I found out that my investment in hones would have been alright if I was honing for other people. everyone is all gung ho in the beginning and this is where we see a lot of dollars going into the sport before they even know how to shave with one yet or they set their self up for failure cause they are convinced that they can hone it and the hairs will magically fall off. plus they really don't take stropping serious enoght to learn it,and its the most important factor in blade maintenance.

so just my humble advise to slow down , cause your the 4789th person to start new here in the last year (just funning you on that number) but every week a new guy starts and the pattern is the same except for the rare guy who actually reads before he starts buying. so really post your location( unless your in the witness protection program, and it still wont matter I can find you now that your online) that way the guys who are near you can reach out. plus you will get invites to meets too. because one on one is going to be your best teacher around.

I don't know why ive decided to give this advise to you , I think about every time I see this , but I usually just watch from the sides. if you stay on this path then all the purcahses will be just fine, but the reality is that its early and you may not even be shaving with a straight in 3-4 months man I,m behind you , plus I,m going to not do this again cause it seems like I,m being an ass , and I don't need to be according to my wife( I am but that's another story ) good luck , Tc

Great advise TC, just the way it needs to be told, no sugar coating, straight to the point, and the honest truth.

i really do appreciate you reaching out to me and i do realize that people (including myself) go way over board
if i buy another razor it'll be a new one for a good primary one and i plan on getting hones eventually so i can hopefully get my friends and some family into shaving with one and i dont think it'd be right to get people started but not be able to help them and be able to get them on the right path
i really have done a lot of research and watched a shit load of videos by numerous people
i do apprecaite you helping and no i dont think youre being an ass
i'm not quite like the rest of my generation (23)
