A Rare Blade
I just wonder if others have experienced what i have. I have run across a Henckel that shave close and clean as any solingen razor I've tried but as smooth and comfortable as any Sheffield I've used. It's an old no. 52 Henckel about 6/8 to 13/16 with barbers notch. It's hollow ground but not extra hollow. It honed quickly and holds an edge great. This one will stay.

Thanked: 4828That is all part of why that is my favorite brand. I have many Henckels and they all seem to work like that for me. I do tend to prefer them more of a half hollow that an extra hollow or quarter hollow. I find most of my gull hollow Henckels tend to be stiffer than the other German blades. Henckels also had a fairly long scale of how hollow a blades was.

Henckels scales are usually on the mundane side, for certain.
Those old grinds are really scarce these days, it seems.
The 52 is part of a seven-day set of different ones in those old bone scales I collected.
Might well be buried with them!

Thanked: 4828I just gave it a quick squint and I do have a 52 as well. I cannot find a picture and I am far too lazy to take one. Mine is a beauty. Great set of non original scales. Kind of like Tom, anything that is a long term resident, gets a special set of scales.

Thanked: 220rhensley:
I would sure like to see a picture of your razor, as I'm sure everyone else would as well. I'm glad it's a keeper!Last edited by Firefighter2; 05-30-2017 at 03:43 PM.
