Default What day of the week is this?

I've just bought three razors off the bay (local to Australia) and one of them was not clearly identified in the sale photos, but as I wanted the pair of Rodgers that were the main deal I took a punt. It turns out to be a Weiss & Son blade from about 1840-1850 as near as I can tell (but I'm quite willing to be proved wrong). The thing I'd like help with is the spine etching. It looks like it could be a day of the week, but is it in some language I'm not familiar with or can I not see the wood for the trees?
There have been Weiss 7-day sets on the market from time to time but none have had pictures of sufficient resolution to check the lettering styles.Name: Weiss image.jpg

The first letter looks like a Gothic A second letter looks to be another Gothic o third letter looks like the number 3 to me, so it could be Ao3 possibly wednesday purely a guess on my behalf.

Thanks Jamie. Have you ever seen Wednesday represented like that? I can't say I have but it's a good first guess. BTW, I thought the last letter was a "z"

It very well could be a Z or a 3?

doing some looking, and it appears as though lower german reads as, Manndag or Monday. Could it be that some letters are missing? There are a couple other languages that use the same ending on their days of the week. Danish is another, so if it reads DAG then that would make sense but the last letter appears to really be a Z. Interesting razor and in very nice shape, I hope you find the answer because that is a good one

Looks like it says 'No 3' to me.

    I'll take a guess here.
The first and last symbols look to be the same size. First looks like a D. Second looks like a 3.
The middle symbol is smaller so it could be a divider.
My guess is that it means Day 3 of the rotation and it doesn't specify the actual day of the week.

Yes! I thought I wasn't seeing the wood for the trees. It must be from a numbered set. Quite logical when you think about it, but I was fixated on the idea of a weekly rotation with named, rather than numbered days.

Pete's explanation is also a good candidate
