    Default Short Blade

Im looking to purchase a Shorter lenght blade that has a rounded edge. I dont wanna pay above 150. Are there any recommendations that you can make on what kinda new blade to get. I have a goatee and find that the blade i have now seems to have a mind of its own at this time.

    Cheers

I believe the TI "super gnome" razors are fairly short - maybe someone here that owns one will chime in with actual measurements. If you're willing to go vintage then the Heljestrand 30-series razors are about 2 3/4" long. Model 30=4/8, 31=5/8, 32=6/8 etc. They're got a squarish tip, but are pretty heavily rounded at the corners and are no more nick-prone than a round tip.

I'll check, I think I have 5 or 6 that are standard razors that have had the blade cut down a half inch or so. IIRC they are square points however.

I'm playing with the idea of cutting a blade I have that cracked, giving me a 1" blade if it works. Thought it would be an interesting project.

The Heljestrand #30 is my favorite razor. Also I like the Double Duck Dwarf that I had the spike rounded off. As per avatar I also shave around a beard. This week it went down to goatee size for the summer anyway.

Another vote for the TI Super Gnome. I did hear that some of them are full length, but the one I have is short. Not expensive, repeatedly shaves like a dream and I like the maneuverability I get with the shorter blade (unfortunately occasionally pierce my ear when I shave with a full length spike the day following...). I've three TIs and this ain't as pretty as the others but shaves just as well.

I've got two Clauss USMC razors (6/8) that both have short blades - roughly 2 3/4" long or about 1/4" shorter than normal - in actual use the 1/4" difference is greater than you would think. And probably the ultimate short-bladed razor is the De Pews Patent Razor - the blade on mine is only 2 1/4" long.
