    Default kamisori razor storage

    Hello all,

I just purchased a used Kamisori razor and was interested in what people use for storage. With Western straight razors, the scales protect the blade, but I wanted to know what it could be put in to secure it while not in use. I've seen basic wooden boxes with inner padding for straight razors but thought that the padding wouldn't be thick enough and cause the razor to move around and hit the inside wall when it's moved. I've also seen the more "vintage" looking kamisori specific storage boxes lined with felt on the inside but where the blade sits in a notch that keeps it from moving. I would like to go with something that doesn't look as nearly worn out or old. Any input from kamisori users would be appreciated. Thanks.

there are a couple items,, some have a Holster type that slips over the blade, and I have a wood base it just sits on , but most of the time after drying it I just lay it down on a microfiber cloth Tc

Do you have any links to what you might be talking about? I'd rather not having it laying exposed with the possibility of the edge knocking into something. Thanks in advance.

This is the box my kamisori came in, wrapped in wax paper. I lined it with raw felt, then used a felt needle to create a "bed" for it. My Mrs plays with felt, so I had access to this.... now it doesn't move and lays with the edge slightly tilted up, resting on felt which is quite soft and not pressed almost at all. Close the lid and I can put it away. Wrap a rubber band around it, in case I am traveling with it.
As the time passes, so we learn.

Mine came in a wood box and I lined it with velvet and keep it in there.

Feather makes a clamshell type cover that fit my kami perfectly. Got it on amazon or ebay.

I keep mine on the window sill in the bathroom, in behind the shutters. It's up and out of the way of curious hands. Also away from everything so the edge wont get damaged.

Good question, here's a way to store your razors courtesy of Richard "geezer". My kamisori are stored suspended from a button magnet in a display case hanging on the wall. The edges touch nothing. The desiccant capsules help keep moisture away.

I currently use a goat knife rest and a piece of wood that's been munched up by carpenter ants. I live alone so nobody messes with them and I've been storing them this way for a couple years. I also use the knife rest during my shave too. It's great!

i bought a $2 box at micheals/ac moore and glued two pieces of wood inside. drilled out some space for the kami to lie point down to avoid any accidental bumps.
