My stubby Wade & Butcher razor arrived this morning with W&B double coffin.
So i compared it to my restored stubby W&B which has G crown R on it's tang, just for comparison & to guess which one is older.
I'm thinking they are too close to call.
The pic with the coffin & razor together is the one that arrived today, the darker scaled one has the G crown R.
What do you think is older?

Beautiful specimens I should add. I just did a Early to mid 1800s Packwood that looks very similar. Not to be hacking your thread, just thought you'd like to see it.

Thanked: 4827My pick for the oldest one is the same razor but for different reasoning. I looked at the pronouncement of the heel. The new acquisition has a subtle and less pronounced heel, and the appearance of hone wear is also less obvious, so the G crown R likely had an even more pronounced heel when it was made. The shorter tail and lack of jimps is also a great indicator. Nice razors you too.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!
