Thanked: 113Wapi or not to Wapi
Extraordinary Gents,
I have a favor to ask. For all of you who currently poses a non-trademarked Wapienica SR, will you please take a look at the below pictures?
I do have an SFK model and came across a non-trademarked one as well but it differs significantly. Will you help me to determine if this is actual Wapi or not.
A few differences I noticed right away:
- no jimps on the bottom of the tang
- different shape(grind on the shoulder/spine)
- different pins(could have been re-pinned)
- golden hue on the scales
Please let me know your thoughts.
Thank you!

Thanked: 48It isn't Wapienica. Probably it's the Kifa from Sweden. These razor were sold instead of Wapi but in the same plastik case.
Kifa is really good razor.

Thanked: 3795Not all Wapis were stamped, and there were several different stamps.

Thanked: 48@Utopian, do you have any pictures of of Wapienica without stamp?
Wapienicas have few different stamp. It's true. SFK, FSM, ZM1, bird logo. But without? I haven't seen yet.

Thanked: 3795No, I don't have photos but they are identical to the unstamped ones in your photo. I have a box of NOS Wapis wrapped in bundles of 5 and they are intermixed with and without stamps.
Given the objections raised in this thread, I will say that
A) Mine were sold to me by a Wapi vendor about 10 years ago and
B) Among all the discussions I have read of Wapis over the years, this is the first time I have seen a mention of the unstamped Wapis not being Wapis.Last edited by Utopian; 06-28-2017 at 05:40 AM.

Thanked: 48Unbranded razor shown on the photos defenitelly isn't Wapienica. I'm sure it's Kifa. Why? Because sometimes it has got the stamp. Both type of surgical razors (Wapienica and Kifa) were present in Polish Army.

Thanked: 3795Well, given the number of them that I have, that is annoying.
HERE is one of the many threads that has covered the stamp/no-stamp issue in the past.
Also, all of my NOS now-suspect Wapis did come with the plastic Wapi coffins.Last edited by Utopian; 06-28-2017 at 02:26 PM.

That doesn't look like a Kifa to me. I've never seen one with the rounded out shoulder stabilizer (for lack of a better term). All Kifas I've seen looked identical to C.V. Heljestrand No. 23's (5/8) and 24's (4/8).
My best guess is either a Solingen or indeed a nicer Wapienica.
Best regards,
Pieter

Thanked: 48I'm not sure if it's rounded. On first photo in this topic looks like french point.
Below some photos of Wapienica and .... other straight razor sold in identical plastik case.
Differences:
1. Wapienica is pinned without washers
2. Different stabilizer geometry
3. Diffrent tails
4. Different size (length)
Few years ago, on Polish auction site, were sold a lot of KIFA razors. Branded and unbranded. All of them looked the same. I had one without stamp.
