Thread: Iberia Doble Temple #12 Straight Razor

I just purchased this Iberia Doble Temple #12 Straight Razor and am having trouble finding any information on the company and any possible relationship to Filarmonica. She is beautiful and I'm excited to giver her a shave soon.

I thought it was a fili without the ugly logo on the scales. Cant help you on the info your looking for but i just hope it shaves as nice as a fili. Great find.

Beautiful razor, Doc-Other than being a "Doble Temple" and made in Spain with similar markings, I don't know how they are related (but I bet they are in some way). Enjoy it regardless.

I believe they were made by a company named Bassat in Barcelona. I do not know that dates they operated. They are a high quality razor and much more rare than Filarmonica or Palmera. My opinion on them is they are much nicer than Filarmonica because they came with much nicer scales. Although the early Filarmonica had nice scales too.

IBERIA is a prestigious name from the factory of Jose Bassat Jerusalmi. The industrialist José Bassat, was well known in the Spanish industrial circles and in the business world for his Fiqomatic razor blades. He was born in Sofia (Bulgaria), and arrived in Spain in 1930, where he created the company Bassat S.A, better known as Hojas Iberia. This vintage NOS #12 Doble Temple model is made with Swedish Steel and was produced in the 1930’s and is considered to be one of the best shavers made in Spain.

IIRC Leon used to sell them. Haven't seen him around for a while.

Congratulations, Dan. I've been eyeing the razor, but pulled the trigger on an NOS Japanese straight instead, although I wish I'd had the finds for both of them. Let us know how it shaves for you.
