Default Razor ID/ Opinions/ help! Sansom and sons

    Hey all!

Looking for any info on this razor! I just picked up the Sansom and sons so it is dull as a doorknob.
From what I can see it says:
    V *crown* R
    Sansom and sons
    cutlers to her majesty

All I can find is Sheffield 1821 in business. That V R and crown stand for "Victoria's Reign".

my additional question would be is it bad for the value of the razor to remove the rust and hone it up to shave ready? sorry if that has been answered I am quite new here. Also got this for 30$ CAD! score

IMO cleaning and honeing it will not lessen the value. It's a big blade and I think you did well price wise.

You should be able to get a deep clean and honed to shave ready and be able to shave with it for the rest of your life. It's a nice catch to say the least. Where are you?

Hello nice razor. Queen Victoria was the Queen from 1837 to 1901. If your razor does not have a country of manufacture stamped on it, it most likely was produced before 1892. That's your date range 1837 to 1891. If you can research the company and find out when they operated you can tighten the date range a little. Good luck and welcome.

Google William Sansom and Company. Have fun.

There are actually quite a few members in Southern Ontario and you should put that in your profile. When people know you are close by it makes get together and finding the GT Meet just a little easier. There is no faster way to learn than with in person instruction.
