Thanked: 1Vintage C.V. Heljestrand box marked no 567
Hello i am new to this place and i found SRP while i was googling on C.V. Heljestrand.
I recently got interested in vintage straight razors and i discovered this CV at a flee market here in Sweden.
Now i hope someone can tell me a little bit more about this particular CV model.
The info i got from googling is that the knive probably dates pre 1900 but i am not shure?
Also i do not think it is an MK31/32 i think there are too many differences, as i understand from reading SRP if rivets are present on the tang it is not ivory.
To me however it seems to be some kind of organic material and certainly not plastic.
Pictures below

Anyway this seem to be a nice place with a lot of experts and i probably stay here for a while!

welcome! I would guess the scales are bone because you can see some tiny pores on the lase image. can you show pictures of the blade as well (we all like razor porn)

Thanked: 3226Welcome to the forum.
I don't know much about Swedish razors but I can say I think the scales are bone and not ivory. I an sure someone will be along shortly that knows more.

Hello. The scales are made of bone. It is a frameback design. Swedish razors are great shavers. If you go to the advanced search( upper right hand corner) and type in the makers name you should find some more information. good luck.

Thanked: 52Yes I have to agree with bone for the scales, vintage frameback by a great maker. Properly honed will give you a great shave!

Welcome to SRP! I collect CVHs and have 25-30 of various models (mostly MK*31s). The frame back you picked up was likely made before the turn of the 20th century. The razors are good shavers (I've had one but gave it to a friend for Christmas), your's has some wear towards the heal so the blade is not perfectly straight, but that shouldn't stop it from being a great shaver. PM me if you have questions.
