Wow. When you described the razor in the OP, I wouldn't have guessed it would turn out to be what it did. If your reserve is appropriate for the razor and condition, it will definitely sell. That's the second Bresnick Vesuvius I've ever seen for sale.

Just as a talking point, I'm not sure the razor is well over 100 years old. I think I'd date it to the early '20's. Thoughts folks?
!! Enjoy the exquisite taste sharpening sharpening taste exquisite smooth. Please taste the taste enough to ride cutlery.

The Vesuvius was produced from 1890 to 1910, it is over 100 years old.

Please understand that I'm not being contentious here, but as the history of C.S. Bresnick > BresDuck > PearlDuck has some holes, can you tell where I can read more about this period in the evolution of the company? Searches yield little. Trying to learn here...

I read an article here in the forums that helps shed some light on things. I will let you know when I find it and where it is. I'm looking for it now

Ok, here is a little bit so far. Even though this post is about a Wonderedge, little bits of the company history are there.

At some point, Dovo bought and still owns Bismark which is one brand name DD used.

I never understood reserve auctions. Set the razor for the minimum price you want and let it go. I mean, if you aren't going to sell it for less then what you want, why let people waste their time bidding on it?
