    Default My grandfather-in-law's Wostenholm

My grandfather-in-law used this razor back in the day, but I have no idea how old it is. I'm somewhat certain it is post-1900, but I don't know how to narrow it down. Any help would be appreciated!

With a better picture of the tang we may be able to give you a window of production.
Looking for Sheffield, Sheffield England or Made in... for starters...

And this is a treasure no matter the age...

There is nothing like an heirloom razor.

Awesome heirloom! I'd say that it is some where in the 1880 to 1890 range, just a guestimate really.

It says Sheffield, England, so I know it is post 1890. Even if I don't use this one, it won't be going anywhere (my Wade & Butcher 8/8 with Masonic etching, otoh...). I doubt it's worth a bunch, and he stopped using it when electric razors came out, but it will definitely be staying in the family.

I have a Wostenholm square point that I inherited from my Uncle. I suspect it belonged to his father. It honed up to a "wicked sharp" edge giving a great shave. I hope yours does as well.
