Some idiot broke a razor!

Hey so,

Some idiot I know, A friend of mine certainly not me, dropped a razor onto the concrete floor of the garage while bevel setting. I know for a fact he has read multiple times to hone over carpet!



Now what? is this razor worth shortening? I'm not opposed to hacking up the razor for the fun of doing the work.

Cut 'er down!

If you don't have a razor yhat would fit into those scales, I would shorten from the pivot end.

Use a dremel with a cut off wheel, clamp the blade to a piece of wood with a dripping wet rag underneath the blade. Go from spine to edge and take your time. It's hardened steel and will take a bit of patience.

You could, yes. But why waste a good pair, when you might have a broken set, that will work, on the shortened blade.
