Default Some idiot broke a razor!

    Hey so,

Some idiot I know, A friend of mine certainly not me, dropped a razor onto the concrete floor of the garage while bevel setting. I know for a fact he has read multiple times to hone over carpet!

Now what? is this razor worth shortening? I'm not opposed to hacking up the razor for the fun of doing the work.

let me know what you guys think!

    for uhh my friend.....

In short, yes. It's a Heljestrand, it will be a great shorty!

If ya got a set of broken scales, you can make a set to fit it, maybe.

Looks to me like you could just shorten the scales on it and keep it "original"

    Cut 'er down!

If you don't have a razor yhat would fit into those scales, I would shorten from the pivot end.

Use a dremel with a cut off wheel, clamp the blade to a piece of wood with a dripping wet rag underneath the blade. Go from spine to edge and take your time. It's hardened steel and will take a bit of patience.

Good luck and wear safety glasses and ear protection!

You could, yes. But why waste a good pair, when you might have a broken set, that will work, on the shortened blade.

+1 for safety glasses - it can't be said too many times. Have at 'er!
