Curious find
I ran across a razor at a local antique store yesterday that roused my curiosity. The scales are rather beefy three pin with no markings, the blade is etched "Filarmonia Doble Temple" but there is no stamp at all on the tang, none. I am sure it's a third generation but I have never seen one with a smooth unmarked tang, no mark of manufacture. Anyone else seen one like this? The owner was asking way too mch for it, but I may go back and see if he will haggle.

I haven't personally seen one but a browse through Google images shows some.

The image you provided is similar but the one I saw was in unmarked scales and the etch was very simple, no gold wash at all just the words in two lines. Thanks for the response. I will take a look at google images, never thought of looking there.
EDIT:
Found this. It is exactly what I saw, the tang is blank on both sides.

Thanked: 4827I do have one somewhere. They are the very last of the very last rendition. They are suppose to be of unpredictable quality. I cannot speak to that because mine shaves well.

After the storm blows through I think I might go back and see if he will come down to a reasonable price. The razor looks virtually unused. I took a quick look and it appeared to have a even bevel. I laid it on the glass countertop and tilted it up, no visual problems but that was only a cursory look. Wonder who made the blade? I have read that they were using multiple manufacturers at the end, not making their own blades. Anyone have any info on that?

I don't think anyone knows how many makers were making blades for Filarmonica or who they were near the end. I seem to remember someone turning up a pile of NOS Filarmonica scales in a Solingen factory a while ago but that's all I know.
