Default Buck 039 Legacy Striaght Razor

I was just wondering if anyone here has purchased or had a chance to get their hands on the Buck 039 Legacy straight razor that was recently released? I'm curious how it shaves being 420HC stainless at 58-60 rockwellC. I haven't been able to find any in depth reviews on it. Is it worth the $175. price?

Yea, I'd be interested to know too. I can't see that under cut toe being much use on a straight razor. I always get squeamish when a knife maker does a foray into straight razors for the first time. I always wonder if the got the geometry of the blade right especially when I see a 7 degree edge mentioned.

Maybe someone brave enough with excess funds will do a review for us?

When these where first coming out I remember a few guys talking about them. I don't remember if anyone actually bought one. Not my taste, for the money a much nicer blade or blades can be had.

Won't be me I'd bet the 58-60 HRC would be max hardness, pre temper

I took a chance and bought one of these when they finally released. Great razor on the level of an older Hart Steel or Portland Razor Co. Even sounds like one when cutting through the beard

The carbon fiber scales feel good. Much better than I expected. The 'undercut' is exaggerated due to the angle of the shot in the pix. Bevels are straight and even from side to side. No warp.

It was 97% shave-ready out of the box. Holds an edge very well. I used it for well over a month with only stropping on linen/leather and then 5 laps on my translucent arkie brought it back to where it needed to be. Buck knows a little something about heat-treat

I do not regret purchasing this one at that price.
