Thanked: 96New Jacob Ray razor
Just received this beauty. It is a modification of his Original. It is Damascus steel, with brass added to the spine. Gives an amazing look. The blade width is 7/8 with a barbers notch tip. I have to say I am really impressed with Jacobs creativity. Stropped it and took it out for a shave. I found that I needed to do some honing on it but that is not a problem because I have at least 5 custom razors that when I first shaved with them they needed some touch up. The weight of the razor is medium and has a really nice feel. The plastic scales look amazing but actually serve as the correct weight balance for the blade. Looks like a 1/4 or 1/2 hollow.

Extremely striking razor! While I can't say that its a razor that appeals to me personally I'm in awe of the artistry involved and I hope it ends of shaving as well as it looks.

Some of Jacob's razors are works of art. I like the grind on your razor, I find that to be the perfect balance of weight VS hollow, stiff enough to be both efficient and forgiving to a certain extent. Congrats!

Thanked: 96Some of Jacob's designs are really futuristic. I told him I liked the scales and gave him some direction on the blade. I have never seen brass mixed with Damascus or any other steel for razors. I assumed brass would be to soft. I guess it is fine when mixed with harder steel. I guess I'll find out.

The brass is not mixed with the steel but a coating on top. Brazing does not melt the base metal. I would tape the spine and treat it the same as gold or silver decorations.

Thanked: 17Is there any way to fix what I think is a typo in the title? I think it's jacob ray right? Sorry, it's a beautiful razor, he deserves to have his name right. Just sayin'

Thanked: 96I tried to correct his name but couldn't find a way to do it. He is an artist and makes some of the wildest razors I've seen. Love mine. Very conservative by his standards.
