Default Time for another razor, what should I get?

I started with a low end Dovo, thinking that I want something that I know is a "good razor" so I could just work on my shaving technique when I started straight shaving a few months ago. I then got a cheapie off ebay which is great and was my preferred razor until I got the Dovo honed and started stropping it on newsprint. I like both but I definitely look forward to every other day when I get to use the Dovo. I think I'd like a third razor although I'm not sure whether to try and find another good cheap (or expensive!) one on ebay or to buy something new. My Dovo is just a bog standard Favourit with plastic scales. I'd like a good razor that I'll enjoy using and not just something to experiment on and don't mind spending a little extra money if it's really worth it. I wouldn't want anything without jimps and I think I prefer the slightly more slender feel of my Dovo to the other razor. Does anyone know what a good next step might be? I don't think I'd want to spend more than about £50 at this stage.

    Thanks

I'd look at a nice razor off of ebay. Something like a Genco/Geneva, Boker, ERN or Robeson - all of these are excellent brands that have NOS or Mint examples on ebay all the time.

New Old Stock. Unsold (or sold but unused) razors. Like this puppy for instance.

    Thanks. Thanks a lot.
You know... getting caught drooling at work is so unprofessional.

They're not always so obvious. Sometimes the seller doesn't know what they have. Look for price tags still on the razor, stickers on the scales, matching boxes with no wear, etc. Doesn't necessarily mean it was never used, but probably means it wasn't used much...

I have just honed up a few Dovo Bismarks in a new square point shape with bone handles. Very nice razors. NOS are nice as well. So many to choose from. I'll put up a pic later.

    Default next step

I, like you, was looking for something after my initial purchase. Here is my 2 cents (which is like, what, in British terms, 5 quid? I don't know!!). Do you have flea markets in GB? Antique stores? There is nothing like finding a razor on your own, which is something impossible to do on ebay, touching it, physically examining it, buying it, restoring (as little, or as much as you want) and finally shaving with a razor that has not been used by another man for probably decades. I also love the wheeling and dealing over price. It makes feel like I've "earned" the right to use this razor. Use this site for finding quality steel, then "go for it"!

I looked at that NOS Puma. While it is nice $292 is too steep for me. Especially since I have gotten NOS Dorko's for anywhere from $40 to $80.
    That makes me feel good...
