Thanked: 3228You could do two site searches in the search box upper right of home page. Something like "tortoise shell real or fake" and "ivory real or fake". There should be a few threads on the subject of how to tell if these materials are real or fake.

I'd bet the tortoise scales are dyed horn, though I've never seen it on a Clauss razor before. It isn't the genuine article, whatever it is.
However, that presentation box is a find, and the razors are both going to be fantastic shavers. Clauss are fine, fine razors.
To date, I had only ever seen single razor presentation boxes from Clauss, and almost exclusively in terrible condition. It looks like yours is in very good shape.-Zak Jarvis. Writer. Artist. Bon vivant.
