Could be. There are thousands and thousands of Sheffields from the 1800's in good condition. There very well may be of fakes out there, but I believe that this style comes from China and was produce until the early 20th century.

A very valid point. I may have to reconsider my stand.

Here's an interesting article about the queue hairstyle.
It's actually a very interesting read. There's also a picture of one of the razors in question and it's labeled a "Chinese Razor". I'm actually becoming very interested in these now. When Ive seen these on eBay I always assumed whey were a replica of a much older version of a western straight. After digging a little deeper though, I think they may be the real thing from 19th century China. I may look into getting one to play around with. I'm sure it wouldn't be worth a damn for shaving a face, but it may be fun to put one on a hone. It may even make an interesting display piece.

I think it can be said with certainty that they are not 'fakes' but are genuine razors for shaving. I'm not certain as to whether it's easy to tell an antique one from a less-antique one (as I don't know how the styles evolved over time) but they are likely of asian origin. People label them with abandon when they are sold though. As to this particular one, civil war surgeons had specialized kits and there were well-crafted tools for surgical purposes rather than the somewhat crude appearance of these.

There's even one guy on the bay selling a few of them at $10 free shipping each. When I get a bit of money on my PP next I'm going to grab one. Even if just for decoration. So don't buy them all guys.lol save me one. Or grab me one if any ones grabbing a few.lol
