Thread: German to English translation and is this the original box?

I got this razor recently and this is my attempt at translation.

The box.

Everything in shaving products. Proprietary hollow grinding.

27 Hafengassa street in Ulm

Family business since 1854 [may be 1804 but I lean towards a 5]

The razor is a Friedr.Baurmann + Sohne #975

Feinste Qualitat etchedon blade. One piece aluminium scales.



What do you think of my translation?

Do you think this is the original box?

Any opinions or history on either would be appreciated. I have seen a little about Baurmann.

I wiped the finger print off my lens so my next pictures should be a LITTLE better!

Ulm a. D. - Ulm on Danube
Fachgeschäft - Specialty Store
Hafengasse - Harbour Lane
Rasierbedarf - Shaving Supplies
Familienbesitz - Family Owned
Hohlschleiferei - Grind Shop for Hollow-ground Blades

Having trouble with the “sig.” as it is not a common German abbreviation and could mean anything from “signature” (e.g. signature business is grinding hollow blades) to “significant”.

The oldest Shaving Supplies Store in City Ulm at the River Donau founded 1854.
The Razor Company is Friedrich Baurmann & Sons founded 1880 until today Sandstreet 27 in Solingen.
You can look here the Store is still existing www.messer-ruf.de

I looked up that address before and saw the Chinese restaurant and the music store etc. but didn't look further down the block.

Ah, still not much in use anymore, but that could be an abbreviation for “eigen” (“own”), like in “own grind shop for hollow blades”.
