Thanked: 0Naked Armor Straights
So I’m looking at getting my first legit straight. I currently have a Gold Dollar 66 that I got to see if I would be interested, and I’m hooked. Cruising the net and I came across Naked Armor. Does anyone have any experience with these razors? Or any suggestions for me? My budget is less than $100 and I would prefer wood handle.

I cant help much but if you got 100 bucks you could get a couple razors on the B/S/T thread here on the forum. And then you would be sure that it is REALLY shave ready. Not a factory edge that someone claims is shave ready and it really is not. Just my two cents. Good luck with what you choose and enjoy the learning curve of S.R. Shaving. Its slow but fun and enjoyable as long as you keep at it till it all clicks.
It's just Sharpening, right?

Thanked: 11I have no knowleged of that Razor maker. For a new Straight user I would recomment a 5/8 or 6/8 Hollow Ground Round Point .Good new production makers are Ralf Aust ,Boker and Dovo .You could also find a good Vintage Razor .IMHO you can probably find a great razor at a fair price on this site .

I checked out there web site and it looks kind of suspicious. some of their razors look more like pocket knives than razors. Kind of heavy and unbalanced. more of a Razor shaped object (RSO) JMHO. I'd go with what the others said.

Looks like a rebranded Kreiger razor as far as I can tell...which translates as RSO (Razor Shaped Object) or future letter opener....I'd stay away.
As has been pointed out, you could get a very nice vintage in the B/S/T...and you won't go wrong.

Thanked: 3224Just to reinforce what has already been said. There are quite a few unknown razor brands out there and more pop up each day trying to get in on this aspect of wet shaving. Personally, I would stay with trusted brands such as Dovo, Boker, TI, Ralph Aust, and Revisor if I were buying a brand new razor. You could take the time and save a bit more toward that kind of purchase while doing more research along the way. Alternately, I would look at the BST for an excellent vintage razor within your budget.

just stick with the list of "DO BUY" razors in the library and stay away from these so called razors companies that pop up or change their names because of bad press. a razor form the B/S/T would be a safer bet. look to see how long the member has been here and post count and you will more than likely get a great shaving razor Tc

You can get a professionally sharpened DOVO for a little less than 100 bucks at Straight Razor Designs. Not much more expensive than a Naked Armor. You will get a good razor from a reliable vendor. What more do you need? Buy a little cheaper and buy twice.

I have nothing to contribute, other than that I love that people still use "RSO."

Thanked: 14Great advice. I'm just getting back into it after years away, and I can't say enough about what is available on the B/S/T thread here. You can try a couple of different types of razors with the assurance that they will be honed and ready to go.
Great way to see what you like while getting your shaving technique right and then you can work on the maintenance jobs like getting your stropping technique dialed in
