Need Help Identifying this SR
I picked up this SR some time ago and it was a bit tarnished, but otherwise in very good condition. Indeed I don't think it was ever honed. Some 2k wet/dry and some Mothers Mag and Aluminium Polish and it was done. My problem is...I can make out the name of the razor. The stamp on the tang is incomplete. It is made in Germany. Anyone out there able to decipher this name?

Thanked: 3224Here is a list of some of the Solingen razor makers Razor makers .
If you sift through the brand names maybe you can find the maker.

A close shot of the trade mark would help.
I'm tempted to say Carnos, but their trademark was a triangle with a cross on each side. (or at least the one I'm familiar with)Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead - Charles Bukowski

I must admit the one thing I don't like about collecting straight razors is the very limited information to be found on some of the more obscure razor makers! No date stamps, limited information on the web, and there are few books available to provide guidance! When I Google Carnos I am directed to my own posts....and eBay. Sheesh...the one nice thing about collecting Gillettes or Schicks is the ample information available. As to your question...I am not sure if Carnos is the brand or the maker or just the model. The tang does say Germany, but I have no idea if that is where the razors were made or just the blades and they were assembled elsewhere. And what the number 8 means is anyone guess.
I did send a note to Strazor (Alex) in Israel...maybe he can fill in some of the blanks. I do like a good mystery. So I am in suspenders as well!

Thanked: 3224Yup, unlike info on Gillette and Schick razors info on straight razors is pretty sparse by comparison. Hope Alex has an answer, inquiring minds in suspenders want to know.

Carnos was the company name. Later razors from them have "Made in Germany Carnos Razor Factory Solingen" on the tang. They also had a British plant that made DE blades from Sheffield steel. That is all I know about them.
