Size: 37.1 KB Hello everyone.. Last night I posted a honing/bevel setting/ sharpening question and in turn was greeted with very helpful advice.. This Sword is the razor I was using as a reference to all the razors I was having a little trouble with.. I did end last night saying I was going to post pics of my bevel progress on this blade but no time to reset today so that's not my quest tonight.. Tonight my question is any info on this but? I picked it up at thrift store not looking quite this clean.. I have never restored a straight razor (can't even hone very good yet) but the owner pretty much have it away and after rubbing the caked crap off scale I thought it looked cool. So this is just a lot of cleaning and some mothers with a few attempts at bevel set/hone/sharpen.. I've tried finding info or one similar but have came up empty handed.. It's stamped with 2530, Barbers Friend etched on blade face and this cool scale with a big antlered deer with green foliage top and.bottom.. Anyone have, have had, seem one or know about these 2530 stamped Swords? Maybe scales not original?? As always thank you guys for any and all feedback.

Crown and Sword was made by ERN .A top quality Producer ,Once honed it should be a great shaver ,

For sure M14shooter.. My question last night was regarding how I just can't seem to get my razors honed/sharpened beyond about a 6 on a 0-10 sharpness scale. I received great advice and see what I need to do.. Even with this blade only at that level of sharp I've used it a number times on my whiskers that run from medium to medium heavy. It has done an admirable job now and really looking forward to it being at it's peak sharpness.. Thanks for the response

Like M14 Shooter said, it's an Ern which is well known as a quality maker. It looks to be very hollow ground, possibly even bellied, so I would go very light with the weight/pressure on the hones. It takes nothing to flex a thin blade while honing which won't help any.

If were my razor I would rest the bevel on 1K or 4 K .Than do a progression up to 16K .After the stones i would do 80 Laps on Lien and 80 on Leather .If you have issues I will hone it for you if you wish .

    Regards Mike

I've got an old ERN, without the etching on the blade. Great shaver!
