Thanked: 174Indeed, how convenient is it to hold? Interesting shape though. And what is "Damascus Temper" - just a selling slogan, or something they did differently with this one?
Anyway, great-looking razor!

Now that is interesting! Beautiful razor, it's art and I can't wait to see it all cleaned up.

Thanked: 1936I like it!
Be sure to use tape, that add on on the spine is some soft stuff by my experience. That shape is quite unique, I first thought it was done later, but the more I look at it...the more I doubt it. Most likely an R&D razor that made it to someone's home. Cool find!Southeastern Oklahoma/Northeastern Texas helper. Please don't hesitate to contact me.

Scott: What is an R&D razor? Excuse my ignorance.
Ejmo: Don't hold your breathe on a restoration there is a que .
Sir Brian: It handles quite well .
Dimab: I think Damascus Temper involves thrusting the hot steel into the solar plexus of a man to quench it. Or I might be wrong :/

Thanked: 1936Research and Development. As small as most cutlers were, it was most likely made by one of the razor smiths when they had a minute available and wanted to "try something" or when the bosses were away!

These are distinctly uncommon. I've seen maybe four different specimens, and there's a similar version that has a different odd tang design.
Definitely a production razor and not a prototype.-Zak Jarvis. Writer. Artist. Bon vivant.

Love those framebacks! I have a JR&Sons frameback but it is different from that one, yours is unique. In case you are curious about the date since I didn't see 'England' stamped on the tang it should be pre 1890............
