    Default Fromm (selling online)

    http://www.bestclippers.com/fromstraigra.html

How would the blade experts rate these?
They're forged in Solingen, and the name's familiar. I use Fromm blades and have an old hone-worn straight I can't sharpen, never did try a new straight.
    It's a great price.

I'm not personally acquainted with them, but for the price it would hard to go wrong, as long as the razor you get is the one in the picture.
On the other hand, I have no experience with this seller, but others may have.
So, tell us Joe, just how much time do you spend serffing the internet in search of razors?
May be a disorder unto (into, whatever) itself.
Hope you don't mind the ribbing.

I've seen that razor sold by another barber supply retailer too. I found it when I was looking for Fromm straights (because I missed out on buying the Fromm 92 (?) that was for sale on SRP six months back and liked the way it looked). I have no idea about the quality of the 72R, though. If you do a Google search for "fromm 72r" you get a lot of hits for beauty shops and barber shops.

Edit: One of the hits is http://www.cachebeauty.com/wholsale/razors.htm and they seem to have other straights at relatively low prices too, although most of the cheap ones seem to be Pakistani straights.

I've seen this one too at one of those barber supply places. Is this one of those Solingen's that you need to stay away from? My guess not, but I did hear someone on the forum state in a post that just because it's from Solingen does not equate to quality these days. And at that price who knows? I would like to know.

Well there may be some "Made in" Solingen, Germany" vs "Forged in" Solingen Germany thing going on, but I believe Fromm did have some good older razors.

I recently purchased a third Fromm 72R. They're good quality but no frills compared to DOVO or TI. I'd say they are a good value for the price.

I would say don't waste your money. I have that exact razor and it is the worst one that I own. It was poorly double ground, the factory bevel sucks, and it wasn't even sharp enough to open a letter when I got it. The scales came loose on it too. So yeah, buy one if you want to spend a day honing it and trying to put an edge on it.

A brutally honest man and his opinion.

I don't know the name myself but sounds like someone might have had a bad one, or this is the norm..

HEY, maybe you can sell him YOUR razor!

(although, after that stellar review, I'm not sure he'd want it...)
