Christmas surprise!
My father in law found some straights at a flea market, and gave them to me for Christmas. A couple were just run of the mill hollow grinds, but then there was this one:
It was rusted, but otherwise looks unused! I took off the scales, which were damaged beyond repair, and cleaned off the rust to reveal the tang stamps and etch.
It is a wedge stamped
G. Wostenholm & son
Sheffield
The etch reads "the original and true pipe razor manufactured only by George Wostenholm and Son Washington Works Sheffield
Please correct me if I am wrong, but I am dating this one around 1850-1870 based on the stamp and the grind?? There is some fairly heavy damage towards the edge, and I am still trying to decide if I want to go full restore or just leave it as is and give it new scales.
Thanks for letting me share, my wife was tuning me out

Thanked: 2Nice pipe razor. I need to do more shopping for pieces to restore, getting bored. Would love to get my hands on a Greaves 8/8+, but they always fall short an 1/8th or so.
