The reviews on the Duluth site are not exactly glowing.

there's a Duluth Trading Co by my house. I went once to check out this razor. I almost busted out laughing when I saw it. It's not good... I would guess it's some sort of ground out wedge from Pakistani steel from the looks of it.
What was more funny was the "strop" aka piece of suede leather and the crox bar that's the same thing I use for my workshop tools. Quite the setup.
Now, I'm not saying it won't shave, because I haven't tried. But if you're on this forum asking, I think you'll find that it is most assuredly not the "Real Deal"One man's opinion...

Ask yourself how cheap can a straight be when the maker makes a profit and then the retailer makes a profit too. At 12.95 that doesn't leave much for the materials labor, overhead.

Thanked: 9Thanks, I figured it’s probably just a
conversation piece. Yes I know you
hardly get these days what you pay for.

Thanked: 292There is a stamp on the razor that says Master USA. However, the details on the web site say that the razor is imported. That is a red flag right there. Of course, it is possible the parts are made in Asia and assembly is in the USA.
Also it says 440 steel, which is stainless, but it does not say whether it is 440A, 440B, or 440C. 440C is often called surgical stainless as it is commonly used to produce scalpels.
Duluth Trading does sell Ogallala shave soap and cologne. I have the bay rum shave soap; it is not my favorite bay rum scent, but performance is OK.
They also sell an aluminum oxide strop paste, but
do not specify the particle size, so I am not sure how good it is.
They do carry some pretty good clothing items. Perhaps their "firehose" shirt could be converted into a fabric strop.

Thanked: 3795I tend to like Duluth Trading Company's stuff, so I was very disappointed to see that they are selling Master razors. I suppose a sternly worded letter is in order.

I bought a phone holster from them a short while ago that wasn't cheap but is well built and for the short time I have had it I have been happy with the quality.
I saw a razor shaped object in a display case but didn't even bother to ask them to open the display case to get a hands on review....
