Thread: Ren Wax in daily use ?

So does anybody use this stuff on their daily shaver ?

Can it replace oiling ?

I know instructions say to buff it off the blade but that would be kinda hard on the edge or is there a way ?

I put it on an ebony handle about once a month because that razor gets used at least once per week. Otherwise, I only coat the handles and blades with RenWax when the razor won't be used for at least a month.
I think it would be a pain to clean it off to shave and then reapply it every day.

so far i've just applied it to my razors after i've finished the restoration or when they are new to me. They are in a sort of rotation so they aren't used daily. i suppose i could use it more often but i haven't had any rust problems. i'm also careful to keep them dry during use and dry them thoroughly after.

Interesting but was looking for info on Ren Wax. I use this as a rule: MX3FG Lubricant "Food Grade" - Inox Lubricants

When I had only a few razors they would always get a coatafter use. They still do but things have changed quite a bit. Typically a razor is in rotation for around a week and I have way more. I do not redcoat was hem until they are getting put away.

I do coat every razor with Renaissance wax following every shave and post shave stropping. I do not feel it is absolutely necessary but it can't hurt. I feel more comfortable knowing that the steel is protected. I also use it on the scales intermittently.

I don't use it daily, but when I get in a razor that has any pitting, I use a fiberglass brush to clean the pits then apply Ren Wax to the pitted areas. I use bicycle chain wax for pivot lube if needed.

I wouldn't use it near razors with celluloid or plastic scales because it does contain a white spirit, OK for use on metal or wood, my prefered protection is 3M Silicone spray, petroleum neutral can be used all all metals and plastics, I use this on all my razors and scales.

When you apply Ren Wax do you simply apply and leave the residue on until you use the razor or do you use it like a polish, applying then wiping off immediately?
