Koraat 14 2.0 Arrival, un-boxing and impression.
This is my 14 2.0
It arrived a few days ago. Packed very well.
First impression. Fit, finish, grind and workmanship. Top notch. 10/10
Coffin Box very nice. Classy.
A few caveats for my first shave impression.
1. This is just my opinion and evaluation.
2. I am not an expert shaver or honer.
3. I am 100% satisfied with my purchase.
My first shave with the Koraat was good but not great. This is in no way a dig on the exceptional razor that Ulrik made for me. The edge was at a level of sharpness that is where I normally touch a razor up. Which is no big deal. I was not upset or disappointed. I have come to accept that I prefer a very crisp edge.
So before the second shave. I took my new pride and joy to my trusty G20K. With one layer of tape.
The razor lays dead flat on the hone. And within 10 minutes tops. It was done.
Bottom line. I LOVE this razor. It is equal to all my other NOS razors. Until this razor I would have told you that vintage razors were probably going to be my favorites.
The weight ,balance , jimps, grind, scales are all executed very well.
My shave of the day pics may get a little boring. Don't see myself rotating for a while.
Thanks Ulrik.
And thanks to this Board. Because I wouldn't have found Ulrik's work otherwise.

Are those the red neon scales?

Those are the “regular” red scales. The lighting for the pic was not the greatest.

Thanked: 96I just got this one and really like it. I just ordered a Damascus. I posted in other blogs that I find when I get a razor whether new or old, I have to go to my stones. Some need more others less. My Koraat needed about 20 laps on my Naniwa 12k then about 25 laps on my Mastro Livi chromium oxide loom strop and lastly 60 laps on the other side leather. No big deal. The key to me is that it takes an edge I like with no real effort.

Thanked: 96It's full hollow. I have a tough beard, a lot of grey and it has no problem cutting through a two day growth. I was a little concerned when I saw the grind, but it shaves great. It gives a lot of feedback. Just ordered another on in Damascus.
