What is your most rare straight razor?

I always wonder about 'rare'. With many small manufacturers some may not have even a single surviving razor or only a few after hundred or two hundred years. So it may not be too hard to find 'rare' razors :)
I like the examples above; like the big american blades are rare because the standard production was 5/8. Makes me wonder if 4/8 modern razors qualify as rare ;)

I don't have a picture handy but I have few George Savages. I think they were big production, but I read somewhere that they made razors only for 3 years in the mid 1800s. I always thought that's kind of rare - to be able to pinpoint a manufacturing date with such a precision.

In this day and age when you can buy most anything it seems odd to find one razor that you like and then not to be able to just go to Ebay to find more. :)

I'm surprised that there are more "fancy" replacement scales available. Blades are pretty common place. It's the scales that are largely the features that set them apart.

Dubl Duck is popular because they have the duck logo. Filamonica has (in some cases) colorful scales.

Take the scales away from a $300 razor and you have a $50 razor at most. :)

I have an Iwasaki razor which was basically produced in small numbers so they are definitely going to be quite rare, but my favourite would be my first edition HoshiTonbo I have not seen to many.

George Savage is an interesting one. Quite a long career, actually. From the 1820’s to the 1880’s. But he went bankrupt like three times, and he moved shop more often than that.

Does this qualify?
