Thanked: 55What is your most rare straight razor?
What is your most rare straight razor? I'm not necessarily talking about how much it's worth. A custom razor is expensive potentially and not many are made relatively speaking but they aren't rare in the sense that you can't find them. If you have the money you can easily order one.
I ask this question, out of curiosity, because I recently got a razor that I like and I started to look around to see if any more were available and basically they are not. I've found a few pictures of ones from the same manufacturer sold in the past.
So, in my case, they come up very rarely for sale. Mine is Ferdinand Berenz "Plumero". They also sell some labeled as "Palmera".
What razors have you found to be sometimes available but quite rare?
Here's a picture of mine (the blade is actually shinier than in this picture)

Thanked: 315Kind of a difficult question. I've got a couple I haven't been able to find out much about, but they aren't really unique. I've got a Boker I haven't been able to find another of. I'll try to post a razor pic after work today.
That is a beautiful razor. Certainly never heard of that one before.

My Iwasaki Tamahaganae western.
There are a few about but they rarely come up. I've had a few Sheffields that I've never seen or heard of before. I believe the rarity is just because it was a small outfit and not many were made or one of the bigger names made them and simply put a different stamp on it.

The Lord Barber, on the blade
A. Micou / Bellegarde, on the tang
I’ve searched everywhere, including here, and have found nothing. I’ve never seen another like it. I think it’s French. An execllent shaver.Last edited by Longhaultanker; 03-30-2018 at 09:51 PM.
A little advice: Don't impede an 80,000 lbs. 18 wheeler tanker carrying hazardous chemicals.

Good Afternoon Gentlemen! I posted about this one on favorite shaver thread last week and couldn't for the life of me get a picture to load from the phone....This is an Abram Brooksbank, Malinda Works Sheffield DREAM of a shaver. As for rare, I can't find anything else other than hand saw blades from this manufacturer....would love to have a three or seven day set of these darlings before I die!! Let me know if I indeed have a rarity, or they're just thinned out in America?! (Probably in all the senior members collections)Dad always said "don't smear anything on the ladder as you go up...you hit your nose on all the rungs if you fall...and they'll be too slippery to get back up!"

Thanked: 315Glen, I've got a smaller American razor with the same type scales in red-orange. Tang is marked something like Van "Deren?" Hardware.
Interesting. I guess big American hollows are a rarity. Can't remember the last time I saw a 7/8 hollow made by anyone in the states.

I would say for me it’s a toss up between these two Filarmonica razors, I had the EPBD for awhile and just acquired the Especial

Thanked: 3226For me it might be my George Ibberson Firth Stainless razors. Could be one of the first stainless steel type straight razors produced circa 1920s-1930s.
