Default Fully Engraved Inscription - G. Wostenholm

I don't have a picture to post yet. I will over the weekend see if I can figure out how to upload a picture.

I have looked through your forum, and have not found any reference to this particular Wostenholm.razor.

I did find one Internet reference to it on Worthpoint but I'm not signing up with them to find out the SOLD price.

The Scales are a not quite pure black. They are more black with a tint of brown. You don't easily see any brown. The scales have a 2 or 3 small nicks or chips in the blade edge.

I an interested in determining how old, how rare and an estimate of value.
Again I will try to post a picture over the weekend.

We don't do valuations, but odds are good that someone can help with the rest of the information.

Do you have any interest in learning how to use it?

Firstly, it's not engraved, but etched.

The distinction is that engravings were done by hand (until the last 40 years or so) and etchings are mass-produced with a photochemical process.

That it includes 'England' in its origin location is an indicator that it was made after 1891.

From the number of them I've seen, I'd say they're about as common as any of Wostenholm's fancy etched razors manufactured around that time. They had a sizable number of different blade etchings for different markets and this was one of them. This particular grammatically quaint slogan (and design) was in use for decades, so it is by no means rare.

YES i would like to lean how to shave with a straight edge. Not with this Wostenholm though. I am obsessed about sharp wood carving tools, shaving sharp pocket knives and a razor sharp boning knife for dressing chickens.

When I was about a toddler I first became familiar with straight edge shaving, watching in awe when my 70 something Swedish grandfather would shave with his straight edge. His fingers were gnarled and some were frozen bent. But he never cut himself.. Even when he was 83. Two of my uncles also used a straight edge for many years. Occasionally I got a straight edge shave from my Barber which was a pleasant experience. The shave was always better than I could get using a safety razor. I never could use an electric as my face burned.
I do intend to look for some advice in how to use a straight edge. I take a anti-coagulant so need to be extra cautious about nicks. I'm 81 and blessed, so far.
