Thanked: 556Henckels For Barbers Only
I’ve had this razor in my drawer for a while and never really took a close look at the engraving. While worn, the front of the tang clearly shows the maker and mark, but I’m having some difficulty reading the back engraving. It looks like DRY ???? RAZOR FOR BARBER ONLY 402.
Anybody have suggestions for what the unreadable part might be?

I'm guessing it says "Dry Hone Razor". don't have a clue what that means though.

I was going to agree that it looked like "Dry Hone Razor," then I saw the box Tintin found, and now it seems certain.
I'm guessing it means the manufacturer recommended honing the razor with a dry hone rather than with an oil or water stone.

I would guess since it was meant for barbers who used the razor everyday multiple times they would just do a touch up when needed on a dry hone and probably the razor would never need anything else.

agree I am pretty sure that says "dry hone razor". I think that would also fit with a barber's style, least as far as I know.
