As you can see, its pitted on the blade and the etching is just about gone. But you can just see the outline of the etch. It looked like it was intricate and I can just make out two letters that were the end of a word. "EL".

With the tang stamp (Solingen Extra) I was hoping to find something but I'm having no luck. Hoping someone here has seen this stamp or etch before and can give me an idea as to who the maker was. Nothing on the back of the tang. I'd love to have a clue to its age too but there is so little to go on. So if you think you might have a clue for me, please let me know. I know I'm asking for miracles here but I just had to ask the group as I'm just not getting anywhere with this investigation as to who made it.
