Bringing this one back up.
Hard to believe that nobody here, with all the years of combined razors information we have, knows nothing of this name. I'm doing a little searching myself and not coming up with anything. No marking on the others side of the tang. Help me to look this one up, guys.
The reason I'm asking is Scott graciously sent the razor to me as a gift/project. Now I'm wanting to know something about it before I jump on it someday soon and start to restore it. I'd hate to spend hours on it and find out it was junk from the 1800's. Ha. I really don't believe that one but it would be nice to know.
I'm thinking because of the shape only, it's a Sheffield but it's not marked in any way where it came from. It's just Sharpening, right?

Don't know. but it kind of sounds like something one barber would say to another. kind of like rock on! Ha! Nice project though, can't wait to see how it turns out.

I looked around a bit. Nada.
Just because, I hit the name and New York and hotels came up.
Could not figure-out why.
I think a dealer and an old one. Might be for English domestic consumption. Must be French...Barberon seems French?
Only the name of the dealer.
All I can figure?Last edited by sharptonn; 08-29-2018 at 01:56 AM.

French you say? Huh. Why not. I was thinking it might habe been from a hardware store or motel or from a co.pany the sells beauty products. And thats where the name is from. Made/stamped for the seller. It does have jimps in the thumb notch, and with the length of the tail im guessing around 1880 or 1900. Near wedge with little to no hone ware so thats a good thing. And the rust/pitting doesnt look real deap so i think it could be cleaned up nicely.
Just hope we can come up with some kind of background on it. It is stumping me badly. Abolutely nothing found on it besides this post. But i aint given up yet! It's just Sharpening, right?
