Thanked: 7Soviet razors on Ebay and websites.
I just bought two straight razors from Flea Ba, both advertised as being from the former Soviet Union.
I saw on Reddit that such were good razors and a guy on Youtube did a shave test and he liked them.
What do you guys say?

I don't think I've run into any bad vintage blades that weren't bad as a result of someone ruining them. Any specifics on the blades you're referring to?

Thanked: 3226Had a Ruskie given to me and it took a fine edge and shaved well. No idea if they are all mostly like that.

I got a Stiz several years ago. It is a good shaver.
There is nothing pretty about it though. Satin finish and plain black scales. Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead - Charles Bukowski

Thanked: 7Communism has never been known for "style" beyond "working every time."
As soon as I get these I'll try to send them off for honing and get a report out, preferably with pics now that I have found my camera.

Ive wanted to pick up one, but uave never done it. As they say, nothing special in the looks department. Normally 5/8 round point. I havent found any in the 6/8 or larger size or a tip other than round. Some are worn badly too. Guess those russians can shave off a grinder edge. Ha.
It's just Sharpening, right?

Thanked: 7True that...the only Russian things I have any real experience with are their surplus arms and ammunition. All of that was quality but I am not a huge fan of the Moisin Nagant rifles....the Makarov though, solid investment.

Thanked: 28Yes, design is not the main value of soviet razors))) Although there were good models.
The main decision for manufacturers was universality for basic mass customers. Simple tried-and-true design and sizes.
