    Default Puma Razors

I received two of the three NOS Pumas I bought. Hopefully the other will arrrive tomorrow. If they shave as nice as the one I now have in my rotation I’ll be happy. Today I received an 89 and a 90. The 89 is a big blade. Heavy. Can’t wait to try them starting tomorrow. So, in the last ten days I have bought, three Puma Razors, Martin De Candre Soap, Castle Forbes Cream, an another Thater Brush. My wife is going to RUN MY ASS OFF! Lol. At least I’ll be clean shaven and smell good.

They are very good razors. I was a little surprised when they fell in price a few years ago. For a while they were worth more than a comparable sized fili. I have always wanted a Puma 6/8or larger wedge, unlikely that I will find one, but that’s ok I have everything else that was on my wish list, almost. . .

The razors were definitely not SHAVE READY. I honed them. I shave tested the first one this morning and it’s still not quite there. I remember my old Puma it took a little more effort to really get that thing hanging hair sharp. Once I did it’s been a breeze to maintain. I worked a little more this morning on the razor I test shaved and will try again tomorrow. These NOS Pumas are the first new razors I’ve bought since 1995 when I bought three Dovos. The rest are vintage. I just took a J. Nowill & Sons Razor out of my rotation. It was made sometime prior to 1891.

If it is not quite the take a close look at the apex of your bevel. There are some good pictures in this old thread.
