Thanked: 96Razor build off
I was watching a razor being custom made and had a idea. They have custom motorcycle and car build offs and thought what a great idea to have one for razors. It would be no hold bars. Submit your best razor. Open to all custom razor artisans. Use whatever steel and scale material you choose. A panel could be set up to judge based on artistic appearance, material quality, craftsmanship, shave quality etc.. At the end, the razors could be put up for auction, proceeds going to a charity or charities pre-determined. You could also have write in votes from blog subscribers. Welcome your thoughts.

Thanked: 3795I think you might want to check in with a moderator for such a proposal. I think it's a great idea but if judging and an auction are involved, there might be complications to address

Yea the staff would have to approve it.
Complications many. It's not like a group gets together in person to do this. How do you know who really made the blade or where it came from?
Where are the "experts" to judge? What are their qualifications? Things would have to be mailed all over the place that's another issue.
That's just off the top of my head.No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Thanked: 96I was giving this some more thought and I can think of at least 3 people who have backgrounds in Metal, honing and razors. I am sure there are at least 3 members who could qualify as experts. As for where the razor comes from and who made them, the razor would have to be signed and have the country it came from on the blade. A certificate of authenticity would also have to accompany the razor. You have people showing their razors in the Vendors section. As for the mail, I would donate $100 to be used for postage. If auctioning the razors violate the rules, we could forego that. Just thought it would be a good community project. There are auctions on this site so I didn't think it would be a problem. I am open to all suggestions and ideas. We could call this "THE RAZORS EDGE". I think that may already be a soap opera.

Well, I'll tell you what. Gather your thoughts on this and make a proposal. Spell it all out like the scientific method. State the purpose, the mechanics, the controls, the desired result (all in complete detail) and the staff will look at it and decide.

Just have all the razors sent to my home, and I'll take care of everything.
