Looks like it. I would assume stamping was done by the least skilled, and youngest, workers so mistakes would be expected.

Yes, considering the lack of schooling back then it is no wonder these types of mistakes were made. Would fit right in with today's tweeting.

If that was a US Postage stamp it would be worth a mint but a razor, probably means little. Some guy probably picked up the wrong die and nobody noticed.

Die makers were there own specialty trade. This one's not a mistake, that's still an 'S', you can see the serif in the bottom left. It's just likely a worn out die so the middle part of the S doesn't come through.

I saw the lower left serif, but I cannot see a residual S in that stamp. I dug through my Sheffield drawer and looked at several W&Bs from that era but cannot find any S that could match that character.

On this one you can see the middle of the S with some wear (bottom) compared to OP's (top).

Thanks for the reply all, From further investigation the C matches the c in manufactured and butcher. I think its still pretty neat and the true value is based off what one is willing to pay for it

Looks like a C to me! I have been working on my W&B 8/8" near wedge& the F in For Barbers Use is worn & you can't see the lower arm on it.
