Mint R Saito SK-3
I'm not new to straight shaving but I've never honed and I don't want to learn on my newest razor. I have a near mint R. Saito SK3 on the way and I'm certain it will not arrive shave ready. I checked the member services sub-forum and didn't see much being offered. This might be the wrong place to post this but I was wondering if anyone could recommend someone that I could hire for their services in order to get the razor serviced properly.
I probably paid a little too much for the SK3, but I really wanted it and I'm in no way comfortable with trying to hone it myself. I'm even a little worried I got ripped off or it might even be fake. I was maybe a bit impulsive.
Thanks ahead of time either way and please do let me know if you guys can recommend someone who would definitely be able to help me out!

Someone needs to be familiar with smiling edge gymnastics. I like those SK 3's. The SK1 seems too much!

Thanked: 4828There are quite a few people that hone. Probably the closest and most experienced would be Glen at Gemstar

Nice razor, they are very straightforward razors to hone the SK3 is the easiest of the 3 in the series, enjoy your new razor.

Thanked: 580Looks like a very nice example.
They are not hard to hone at all, the hardest part is taping the spine...
Hard to tell from the photos, but some of them were full bellied hollow ground.

Send it to Glen like RezDog said. He will put a very nice edge on your razor and he is basically next door in Idaho.

Awesome feedback guys, I appreciate it. I will hit up Glenn and get it sent to him once the razor arrives. I have a couple of more I might send along as well. One for a rehone and a touch up, and one that belonged to my grandfather for a complete restoration. I'll let you guys know how it turns out!
